    530. Thomas Hardeman

    Family name was uniformly spelled HARDYMAN in old Bible record of THOMAS HARDYMAN kept by SIRMANS Family. Name spelled same on deed & estate records of Screven & Bulloch Co & on state land grant records in SC & Rev War accounts. After Rev. moved to GA, settled in Effingham Co, later cut into Screven then Bulloch Co, GA. Bulloch Co GA Genealogical Source Material, pg 430, by A. Register. Scull Creek Baptist Ch was
    constituted Oct 24, 1804 Bulloch Co, GA. Is now in Emanuel Co, GA. (this county was created partly from Bulloch.) This church is now known as Hebron Church, name changed in 1818

    Military: Revolutionary War Soldier: THOMAS & son JOSEPH served in Col Powell's Rgt. SC Militia 1775-1777. THOMAS as a captain, Joseph as an ensign. HARDEMAN, THOMAS (P.115): (1) He was born in Virginia, Oct. 15, 1730. His wife, Elizabeth, was born Aug. 14, 1736, in South Carolina. They had thefollowing children:

    �he Sirmans family. It is also spelled that way on the deed and estate records of Screven and Bulloch counties and on the state land-grant records, and also in the South Carolina Revolutionary War accounts. (2) He served as captain in Col. Powell's Regiment, South Carolina militia, in 1775-77, in the Revolutionary War ;and his son, Joseph, served as ensign in the same company under his father (see p.245, Gregg's "History of the old Cheraws"). About the time of the close of the Revolution, the Hardyman family moved to Georgia and settled in Effingham County (later cut into Screven and then Bulloch counties).
